Petter’s sculptural work is made in response to individual pieces of timber which he steam bends into graceful curves and arches. By cutting the wood and joining it with his extraordinary joinery skills, he creates simple forms we have not seen before.

Petter Southall Tall Ship Shape

H 32.5 x W 52.5 x D 26.5cm. 2020.

Two magnificent pieces of solid oak, steam-bent into curves, cut at an angle and jointed with hidden joinery. The grooves are routed in by hand. The finish is untreated, washed and sanded smooth.
