We offer table service indoors surrounded by artwork and outdoors (weather permitting) surrounded by artwork and flowers. We also have a Takeaway menu with ready meals to heat at home.
Café Sladers offers a changing menu of superb freshly cooked, ethically sourced seafood, meat, vegetarian and vegan lunches, desserts, cream teas and cakes. We serve great coffee, a vast choice of teas and hot drinks, a full wine list, spirits, locally brewed beer and cider, organic soft drinks and fruit juices.
Reservations are welcome, and can be essential. Our tables are well spaced. We thank you for allowing our staff time to wash and prepare the table for you. Our staff are here to look after you and make you welcome.
Please wear a mask whenever you are not seated. Hand-washing facilities are available in our yard as well as inside.
From three-course fine-dining with wine to more casual light lunches, we offer fresh local seafood every day, super-generous crab sandwiches, salads and hot dishes suitable to gladden the hearts of vegetarians, vegans, fish and meat-eaters. To follow we have a selection of desserts, locally made Baboo Gelato and dreamy home-baked cakes and puddings including lots of gluten- and dairy-free choices. Homemade fruit or plain scones are cooked here every day for perfect cream teas as well as cheese scones for savoury snacks.

‘I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed our lunch at Café Sladers. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. There was a lot on the menu that we would’ve liked to try, imaginative mainly fish-based dishes which were all cooked and presented well.

We serve organic Arabica coffee and delicious decaffeinated coffee with all kinds of organic dairy milk, oat milk, soya and almond milk. Also many varieties of tea, mostly organic, including herbal, fruit and China teas as well as Earl Grey and English Breakfast. Don’t miss our sumptuous hot chocolate and chai lattes…
Choose from our carefully selected wine list, mostly from France, Italy and Spain, or from a selections of locally brewed beers (Dorset Brewing Company), cider (Burrow Hill) and local organic juices and soft drinks (Luscombe and Belvoir).
While our live music events are on hold at the moment, our literature talks are started again. The café offers dinner with almost all our evening events and the delicious food, fun and chat are a highlight of coming here. Often we serve a short menu which will include a choice of a meat, seafood or vegetarian dishes with waiter service. Fabulous starters, desserts, cheese and liqueurs are available to order on the night. Sign up to our mailing list for live music, speakers and other evening events.
Sladers Yard is a brilliant venue for private parties, weddings and dinners. Events are tailor-made to the customer’s wishes, style and budget. From waitress-service or buffet dinners for up to 60 people to a bar, band or dj, and dancing for larger groups.
Funeral Teas and Memorial Gatherings with space to mill about and a really good tea for comfort and good memories.
