Laura Boswell ARE

Highland Pine, Early Winter

LAURA BOSWELL ARE is an innovative and highly talented printmaker working with linocut, woodblock and traditional Japanese woodblock printing. Her work is an exploration of space, scale and light in wild landscape. Based on the west coast of Scotland, she constantly explores new and inventive approaches to express the subtleties of light and weather in her exceptional landscape prints.

Laura has a degree in Art History/Visual Art from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and is elected to the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (ARE). Her prints are in national collections and museums including The House of Lords, the National Print Collection of Wales and the Buckinghamshire County Museum, UK, the Nagasawa Art Park collection and the MI-Lab Print Collection in Japan and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, USA.

Three printmaking residencies studying woodblock printmaking with master craftsmen in Japan have been a lasting influence. Her books, Making Japanese Woodblock Prints, (Crowood Press, 2019) and Linocut and Reduction Printing, Design and Techniques (Crowood Press, 2022) are available at the exhibition. In addition to her printmaking, she runs a YouTube channel devoted to sharing her printmaking skills in both woodblock and linocut techniques.

At Sladers Yard we are delighted to be showing her work for the first time.
